Blume Distributions (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

This page serves as both our Privacy Policy and our POPIA Notice in terms of section 18 of POPIA. It explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information, and your rights as a data subject.

  • Business name and trading details
  • Contact name, telephone number, and email address
  • Physical and delivery addresses
  • VAT and company registration numbers (where applicable)
  • Banking details (for account customers)
  • Purchase history, account balance, and payment history

We collect this information directly from you when you open a trade account, place an order, or interact with our sales representatives.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use this information to:

  • Process and deliver your orders
  • Maintain your trade account and manage credit
  • Provide customer support and respond to enquiries
  • Send invoices, statements, and account-related communications
  • Notify you of product updates, promotions, and trade events (where you have consented)
  • Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

4. Lawful Basis for Processing

We process your personal information on the following lawful bases under POPIA:

  • Contract performance — to fulfil the trade agreement between us
  • Legal obligation — to comply with tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements
  • Legitimate interest — to manage our business, including credit control
  • Consent — for marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time

5. Sharing of Information

We share personal information only with:

  • Our courier partners, for the purposes of delivering your orders
  • Our payment service providers, for processing card and EFT payments
  • The South African Revenue Service and other regulatory authorities, where legally required
  • Our professional advisors, who are bound by confidentiality obligations

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your trade account is active and for a further period required by South African tax and accounting legislation (currently five years from the end of the relevant tax period).

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Information is stored on secure cloud platforms with restricted access.

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of inaccurate or outdated personal information
  • Object to the processing of your personal information
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
